I have recently come to enjoy the band "Muse" they're pretty awesome. I guess my friend Sara A. is partially to blame for me liking them (when we were in Grad school every time we went out we had to put Muse on the Jukebox). They are a rocky/punk/awesome band, their music is the get up and go kind. Check them out!

Finished the Twilight Saga
I actually finished a couple of weeks ago but this is the first time I feel like I have been able to write about the series. The easiest way to put it... I have a love hate relationship with the series. I really enjoy the suspense, and the danger, and to an extent I even enjoyed the "romance." These books are out of the normal for me, I usually enjoy Humor books, Jen Lancaster, Chelsea Handler so on an so forth, but I totally got into these books. While the author, Stephanie Meyer, can certainly hook a reader with blood shed, smoldering eyes, and the never ending anticipation of death her writing was so predictable. I also felt like the book had a smidgen of Mormon propaganda with it's proclamation of abstinence (not that, that's bad but seriously, in a romance novel???). The book also portrayed an unrealistic love relationship, Vampire + Human (DUH!), but not only that it gives an unrealistic expectation of what love is. As far as I am concerned, no one falls that hard, no one has a whole bore through the body because a missing love. Even if you take out the vampire stuff, a love relationship can't be like that, perfect, lusty-love, torture? Seriously? Honestly though I liked the books enough to read them all with in a couple of weeks, and will probably end up buying them. The series is a fast and simple read. The Twilight Saga is becoming part of the the American youth culture, and as I work with youth I had to read them, right?
(Please note, after these book I have a loathsome attitude toward the phrase "smoldering eyes" or really anything to do with the attraction to eyes at all. I mean seriously?)

Christmas 2008 (Iowa)
Here are some lovely Christmas themed pictures... just because!
A close up of some of my favorite ornaments, the mirrored one is from my childhood!
The ornament wreath I made with Chelsea and Lindsay over Thanksgiving.
Oreo Balls! Chelsea was my inspiration!
The Christmas Cookies I made for my staff!
Last but certainly not least, a bad picture of my Christmas Tree!
More pictures from home coming soonish.
Winston and I head home tomorrow, say a little prayer for good weather!
Merry Christmas!

Goin' Home!
I am so excited to go home! Winston is too! There is only one problem, the temperature! Although Winston's Vet says that he can travel in temperatures as low as 10 degrees, the airline believes other wise. So keep your fingers crossed and say your prayers that it will be 20 degrees or above (in Des Moines and Portland) on the 17th and the 30th.
I would now like to dedicate this song to home, because there really is no place like it.
Oh, there’s no place like
home for the holidays,
‘Cause no matter how far away you roam
When you pine for the sunshine
Of a friendly face
For the holidays, you can’t beat
Home, sweet home
I met a man who lives in Tennessee
And he was headin’ for Pennsylvania
And some home made pumpkin pie
From Pennsylvania folks a travelin’ down
To Dixie’s sunny shore
From Atlantic to Pacific, gee
The traffic is terrific
Oh there's no place like home
For the holidays, ‘cause no matter
How far away you roam
If you want
To be happy in a million ways
For the holidays, you can’t beat
Home, sweet home
Happy Holidays and Lots of Love,
Sara and Winston

Christmas Wish List!
Here is the list!

Mama needs a new pair of shoes! My current tennis shoes are almost worn through to the bottom!

To keep my hot drinks nice and toasty!

I am tired of ironing on the floor over a towel.

A new leash for the baby!

I prefer the older movies.
I of course would like some socks, and jeans as well. Just some ideas for the family, but my #1 Christmas wish is to bring Winston home with me for my vacation!
