The weekend!

Here are a couple of pictures of what Winston and I did last weekend.

On Saturday we went to a farmer's market in Des Moines by the end of the morning Winston was pooped! He gets a little over excited with all of the people, but even more excited with all of the other dogs to play with!

At the market I got some fresh rhubarb and made a small crisp. It was not a success, I put WAY to much tapioca in with the fruit. Put the crisp part was GREAT!

I also picked up one Basil and one Cilantro plant to use over the summer and got these cute little "self watering" pots to put them in when I went to Wal-Mart. They're really not self watering, because you have to remember to fill the bottom with water, it's a little weird, but a lot cute!

I got a this desk and chair to put in my new apartment, I got them at a little shop in town.
They both have a distressed look, which is fine, but I might strip them and repaint them over the summer, we'll see.

Other than being on duty it was a great Spring/Summer weekend,
I am looking forward to many more of them!

Almost an obsession.

This story may be a good one, it may be a bad one, so read and find out.

There is something you should know about me, I absolutely, positively LOVE the television show "How I Met Your Mother" or HIMYM. The main character is Ted, and the plot of the show is Ted telling his children the story of how he met their mother, the title kind of explains it all huh? It really is a great premise, you never know when he is going to meet their mother, of if the next woman will REALLY be her (he has yet to meet her, but I am hopeful for next season).

Another one of the characters, Robin Scherbatsky (aka Robin Sparkles or Aunt Robin) is from Canada and in her youth she was a Canadian Pop-Star! Robin Sparkles only had two hits, the first being "Let's Go to the Mall," where she goes to the mall (what a surprise right). While she is at the mall she meets a Canadian love interest, Simon, played by James VanderBeek (think Dawson's Creek), thus leading in to the her second Canadian hit "Sandcastles." In "Sandcastles" Simon breaks poor little Robin Sparkles heart after a Canadian summer of building sandcastles (shocker, right?). Being a true fan of 80's music I LOVE Robin's hits they are are rare blend of 80's and hilarity, can you say PRICELESS?

On last nights episode of HIMYM, Ted and Barney (or Uncle Barney, played The Neal Patrick Harris) use their cell phones to call each other. Low and behold, guess what Ted's ringtone was, "Let's go to the Mall"!!! While laughing myself into a coughing fit I couldn't help but think "I must have this ringtone!"

While I don't have the ringtone yet, I did buy the song off of iTunes and as a warning if I do get "Let's go to the Mall" as a ringtone I will NEVER answer my phone. You've been warned.

Kansas City trip

Last weekend Winston and I wend to Kansas City for Easter, it was a great trip. We stayed at the Tilley's, Matt worked nights most of the weekend, so needless to say Winston was a little shocked when he saw a "strange" man walking around the house, Winston LOVED Rebecca, not sure if she was his biggest fan. That's okay though the kind of love Winston gives can be a little out of control and A.D.D.

On Friday night we went to Matthew and Lindsay's house, while I got to visit with my friends (Rebecca, Sara, Jen, Lindsay+Matthew, Meredith+Josh) Winston had the chance to make some dog friends. Winston got along very well with Cyler (Meredith's dog) and Claire (Lindsay's dog), they were out of control with their copious amounts of playing and ruff housing. Cadance (Meredith's dog) didn't really like Winston and he just could not get it through his thick skull why she didn't like him; Winston's fur flew and fell, but he still came back for more! Luigi (Lindsay's dog) was MUCH more social than usual he still did not want to play with Winston, maybe because Winston was a little bigger and does not understand the idea of "gentle".
Clockwise, Luigi, Claire, Cadance, and Winston.

Jen and the dogs!

Clockwise, Claire, Cyler and Winston. The rowdy bunch!

At one point in the evening Matthew was trying to get the dogs outside and Winston was so excited to go he knocked out the screen door, WOOPS! No harm done it just popped back into place, thank goodness!

I am sure if Bailey or Penny would have been there they would have been all over the playing and being rowdy.

On Saturday I had the chance to go shopping with the Passman sisters. As they are both expecting babies in October (2 days apart), they wanted to pick up some maternity clothes. It was a hilarious experience, complete with fake baby bumps! Check out Rebecca's blog for pictures.

On Sunday we went to church, then dinner at Ed and Laney's where Winston Churchman got to meet Winston Passman, W.P. didn't really appreciate W.C.'s energy and A.D.D. attitude.

It was an awesome weekend! Thanks to all of my friends for making it so great!

Happy (belated) Easter!

Cute right?!?! He did surprisingly well with his flower petal headband!

4 dozen cupcakes

Have you ever wondered what 4 dozen cupcakes look like?
Well here you go! Some of my staff and I made these for a cupcake walk. Because of the MASSIVE amounts of cake I went a less time intensive route using a boxed cake mix instead of cake from scratch. To the trained palette, cake from scratch would have been better but to 100 children under 15 the sugar intake was all that mattered.
The above is obviously pre-frosting.

Post-frosting, I LOVE the obnoxiously bright colors!
