A not so Natural Disaster

I graduate in less than two weeks! WOO WOO! Tomorrow it will be one week until my family gets here! I am so excited to see them! I was almost out of groceries; no milk, moldy bread, NO CEREAL, no fruit, no veggies, no turkey meat so I was going to put off grocery shopping until my family got here. But then... one morning I walked to the coffee pot and realized, NO COFFEE! THIS IS A DISASTER!!! So scrounged around in the cupboard and found a little packet of coffee I got for Christmas, DISASTER AVOIDED! Needless to say the coffee only last two mornings, so I went grocery shopping. I should be good for a little while now.

The journey is about to begin!

I don’t mean to keep complaining about my job search, but it is consuming my life, entirely! Part of me has moved on to plan “B,” moving to Kansas City, and mooching until I can get a real life job, which I am VERY excited for. But I just can’t help but to hold out for plan “A,” getting the perfect job in housing where many of my expenses will be paid for, which I am less excited for. We’ll see what happens I suppose.

Recently I have been seeing/finding a ton of adventure/journey quotes; they have helped my spirits (along with especially supportive friends).

Here are a few of them:

“If you don’t start you won’t arrive!” – M.E.

“I see my path, but I don't know where it leads. Not knowing where I'm going is what inspires me to travel it.” - Rosalia de Castro

“You can't cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water.” - Rabindranath Tagore

This one is my favorite! "You have plenty of courage, I am sure," answered Oz. "All you need is confidence in yourself. There is no living thing that is not afraid when it faces danger. The true courage is in facing danger when you are afraid, and that kind of courage you have in plenty." - L. Frank Baum (Wizard of Oz)

I heart India Arie

"There's hope
It doesn't cost a thing to smile
You don't have to pay to laugh
You better thank God for that"

Computing Procrastination

A few weeks ago my lovely little lap-top computer decided to freak out. The black and white screen said it needed to be restored. After going through my desk and by Rubbermaid of “important papers” I still could not find a restore disc, but much to my chagrin I did find I piece of paper that explained how to make a restore disc for my computer and that I was supposed to make one upon starting my computer for the first time. Woops! I didn’t do that. (This is a great example of why I probably shouldn’t even have a computer, I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT COMPUTERS.) So during spring break I took my computer to the University’s ITS to see if they could do anything. They informed me that it would cost anywhere between $50 and $100 to fix the problem. Not exactly thrilled I signed the paper agreeing to pay the feel if need be. I few days later I got a call from ITS, they couldn’t do anything for my computer. I luckily did not have to pay, but still did not have a working computer.

ITS told me I needed to call HP and order a set of recovery discs. I should have gone home right after they told me that and ordered the discs. But I didn’t I waited a whole two weeks to order the disc. Now I am kicking myself and wishing I had a working computer to write my paper on but I don’t. I have a feeling this seven page paper might take a LONG time to write. I really wish I would have ordered my restore discs the week of Spring Break.

In Conclusion: I should not be procrastinating, but why not put off today the things you can do tomorrow? In this case, the words of my good friend Mark Twain strike accord, “Never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.” Thank you Mark, your words complete my day, or maybe my tomorrow?

Cupcake week!

I don't necessarily love Martha, but I am digging her this week. This week on the Martha Stewart show it is cupcake week! She has been talking about cupcakes, especially cute cupcake themed accoutrement and sharing cupcake recipes. I am loving it.

On Monday she had one of my favorite blog writers on her show. I missed it but have caught up since then. Today she had a lady who makes Cupcake Pops on the show! They are adorable. (I would put a picture up, but my computer isn't working so I will just add the link; http://bakerella.blogspot.com/.) Check out Martha this week!

Out like a lamb?

The lovely South Dakota weather has been up to NO good. We had two inches of snow yesterday! Today, the sun seems to be shining but I have heard that it is very icy outside. What ever happened to beautiful spring-ish weather at the end of March? This is insane, but I am hopeful, for Saturday they are forecasting 60 degree weather! YAY!!! I am also looking forward to some good thunder storms. March may have come in like a lion and gone out like a lion but I sure hope April showers bring May flowers.

In other news:

I am still job searching, UGH! It has been a long search, and while sometimes I get a little down in the dumps about the search, I am still hopeful that I will find my niche somewhere (preferably in the K.C. area). Keep your fingers crossed, say a prayer or please just do whatever it is you do for people who need a good job.

I'll keep you posted.
