Graduation

I made reservations for my family to come to Graduation! YEAH!!! WOO HOO!!! I am so excited for Graduation, I just finished filling out some paperwork to graduate and I registered for one of my two classes for my final semester as a student for a LONG time. Yeah I'm gonna have my masters! I have so much to do before then, back to the books! Yeah graduation!

FALL!

Fall has come and that makes me want to do fun fall things. Like go on walks, carve pumpkins, roast pumpkins seeds, make granola. All of which I have done in the past week, and LOVED IT! Here are some photos to document my fall amazingness!

I also discovered something that would be ultimately helpful on my nice little walks all over Vermillion , the Nike+iPod Sport kit, but not the Nike part (their shoes are to narrow for my feet). When you walk, run, or whatever it is you may do, IT MEASURES THE DISTANCE! Which is great for someone like me who totally looses track of time and how far they have walked, how long they have been walking, it also tells you what time it is, and how far you have gone mid-walk. Then when you're done you can upload the information and track it through you iTunes! How freaking cool is that?!?! Mom, spread the word, I want that for Christmas!

Some people are complete "A" holes!

Today I was yelled at multiple times by people whom should NOT be yelling at me. In one case I Was trying to correct someone for over charging a student, and in the other I was trying to make sure a student didn't get over charged. Both times I was basically told that I was mistaken and that I SHOULD NOT SECOND GUESS THEM!

WRONG ANSWER ASS!!! I AM YOUR SUPERVISOR, AND I AM CORRECT, HOW ABOUT YOU NEVER TELL ME HOW TO DO MY JOB UNTIL YOU HAVE DONE IT!!! SO ANGRY! WANT TO SCREAM!

I am trying to help you, and give you the ability to better yourself! So, how about you shit the hell up for two minutes, and I explain to you, what is going on. Or you can just bite my head off, and I won't help you, just fix it after YOU fuck it up.

This weekend was kind of weird, it should have been relaxing, but I kept getting all of these nervous feeling. About work, and conflicts. About school, graduation, and homework, or the lack there of. About Christmas and not being able to get home, every time I hear the song "I'll be home for Christmas," I start freaking out, it is no longer part of my Christmas play list.

I've also been getting really nervous about my HUGE compressive test. Should I take it while I'm home for Christmas, if I take it while I am home what books should I take home. When I get the questions early should I read them, my teacher told me to read them, but I feel like that's cheating. What if I fail.

And I've been freaking out about where I am going to work next year, part of me is so excited to do the job search again. The other part of silently flipping out, WHAT IF I DON'T GET A JOB. I know I do very well at what I do but, what if the new place I work at does not fit me at all, what if I never make new friends.

I know I'm over reacting but, this weekend all I could think about was "what if," I'm gonna what if my self into a panic attack full of hives and puking.

To take my mind off of the freak out, I fiddled with these, they are kind of fun.

The rain, I blame the rain.

I am a little (okay it is not a little at all, it is a horrible) crabby mood. I am just fit to be tied, mad to the point of tears, ready to kick some butt, I won't though I'll just lose a night of sleep, be tired tomorrow, and sleep off the upset-ness tomorrow night. On a positive note, this weekend Sara and I went to the apple orchard and I took some really neat pictures. I enjoy them.





I also got some great lip balm in the mail today, it smells like roses, I didn't think I'd like it, but I do.

D-Days, stinks, but dreaming ROCKS!

This weekend is USD's homecoming, which just give students an excuse to drink themselves into a stupor. BUT, surprisingly, things are going pretty well (don't think I didn't knock on wood right after I said that), I hope to be in bed by 4ish (knock again).

I have caught up on a few shows I missed last week, one of them being "Men in Trees," about a New York writer who moves to Alaska to write, very good a quirky, I enjoy it. What I enjoy most about it is that she buys a cabin and fixes it up, I WANNA DO THAT! Not really the part about living in Alaska (the insane amounts of daylight in the summer and night in the winter would not work for me), the part about the Cabin! I want a cabin to fix up and live in, how great would that be! And I want it to be old with character, and old fixtures to make all pretty. The old desk I found would look GREAT in my little cabin. Oh to dream!

Making up for Wednesday!

Okay so, Wednesday I am supposed to post something i want, well I forgot last Wednesday, so here, something I want.



I know, I know, you think it's silly, tacky, or dumb. But, that's why I like it. If I had one I would probably wear it every day. What can I say I like silly, tacky things.

The big 2-5!

I had a pretty good 25 Birthday! It was busy, definitely a day at work. I guess it started last night, with a program that some CAs put on, they had some HDs and our Dean of Students, Kirsten (previously the Director of Housing) come to get pied, but no residence came, so HD's paid to pie Kirsten, and a CA paid Emily, it was pretty funny.

Later we went out for a little bit, but I wanted to sleep, so we went home, and ... I slept! When I woke up this morning I opened my present from my Mama and Scott. They gave me some very pretty bowls, and a serving dish. They don't totally match with what I already have but, used as serving pieces, the polka dots will be what count, right?

This morning interviewed some of the students in the class I am teaching, it was so fun to get to know them, and I got to talk to them all by myself (this is important b/c I NEVER get to talk to them one on one, there is always a co-teacher with me but she was sick, so I got to do it all by myself, and I really liked being the only one). They had some good stuff to say, I hope they got as much out of our conversation as I did.


I received a bunch of B-day cards, some with money! Thank God! After that surprise tuition payment I was so broke. (Thanks guys!)


This evening Sara, Emily, Jessica and I went to Mona Lisi's for dinner, it was so good, a delicious Birthday dinner, the best part, I didn't have to cook, or clean up.


After dinner, we went to Emily's and watched "Grey's Anatomy" and had chocolate cake, NUM!

Song of the week #2

Okay so I have wide range of music I enjoy, and yesterday when I was on my walk, I listened to today's song. It reminded me of Men's Basketball Games at Graceland, especially my senior year. Rebecca and I would usually go together she would bring a book, and I would buy a bag of popcorn, we sat there like old women, not really watching the game, me watching the people and her reading. But they always played this song, especially in the beginning, and I love the chorus, partly because a choir is singing, AND I am pretty sure the words to the chorus are from the movie Newsies. It's just a good get movin' song. Thank you, Nelly!

Wednesday, day of something I "need."

Okay so today, what I "need," isn't a new set bowls for my kitchen, or a new Coach bag, or a sewing machine, or a pedicure, or a vacation. What I "need" today is to go to a professional development conference called UMR ACUHO (Upper Midwest Region Association of College and University Housing Officials), Fall Conference, I would really like to go to the conference because of the workshops that I will be able to attend that will benefit myself as a Hall Director and because I would like to have a chance to network with other professionals in the field.

BUT... I may not be able to attend, because I went last year and my department will only pay for people who have not been to the conference before. I feel that I need to go, to at least try to make some connections with possible employers, because I will be job hunting in just a few short months, and if I could get to know some people at other institutions, I would be able to include or rule out some interviews.

SO... I am filling out a conference fee waiver application, the questions are easy enough and the application isn't to bad, all I have to do is answer a few essay questions and get a nomination letter. The questions will be EASY, since I pretty much got my B.A. in B.S. (HA, I sleigh myself)! But I am a little worried about the nomination letter, my department already said that I was not first choice to go (although not because of performance issues, but because I had already been to the conference), none the less I will do a little buttering up and try to get a nomination letter. Which is another thing, I'm asking someone to nominate me??? Seems a little convoluted, but when has that gotten in my way, HA!

So in conclusion, I "need" to go to UMR and I "need" to not be so worried about asking people for help when I NEED it.

In other news, I had a nice relaxing weekend, complete with purchasing no new bowls, but I do feel that I should admit that I did spend some much needed time with my good friend, the Target clearance aisle, it was nice.

I also watched "Some like it Hot." Good movie, I love Jack Lemmon even more now, one day when I am grey and old I will want my future husband to be like him in "Grumpy Old Men," my favorite movie.

I also "fixed" the traveling trophy, instead of a tennis player, there is a dinosaur carrying a tennis players, I seriously crack myself up!

Oh also, this weekend I did not buy any bowls, but I did enjoy the polka dot plates Rebecca got me for a wonderful early birthday present! Thanks Rebecca and Matt.

Speaking of Rebecca and Matt it is now going to be one of my main goals in life to get more pink in Rebecca's house. She loves pink, Matt does not, therefore, my goal to a: give Rebecca more pink stuff and b: torture Matt by giving Rebecca more pink. MUAHAHAHAHAHA!
